Empower To Recreate - MoveStrong Functional Fitness As Part Of New Climbing Gym
enjoyable, dynamic, and challenging workouts with a unique combination of functional fitness & Climbing
Climbing has always been more than just a hobby for Jen and Matt DeLong; and opening a climbing gym seemed like the perfect opportunity to share this passion with others.
When Jen and her friend Lisa Howell were lacking possibilities to practice obstacle courses for an upcoming Spartan race in their hometown of Butte, Montana, the initial idea quickly turned into a more complex plan.
Both women are lifelong athletes with a strong belief in enjoyable, dynamic, and challenging workouts. A functional fitness facility would be an ideal place for the local community to combine fitness classes, obstacle courses, and climbing features, that benefit everyday movements, and empower people to recreate themselves.
When researching equipment for the 3,000 sqft gym space Lisa came across MoveStrong. The videos of other gyms fascinated her and after talking to MoveStrong founder Jared Kuka she had made her decision. Both share the vision of improving overall health by exercising with a focus on natural body movements. The highly customizable equipment and super individual customer support checked the remaining boxes.
To experience the equipment and collect inspiration for their own gym, Lisa and Jen visited a nearby MoveStrong installation. To their surprise, they knew the facility inside out, had it been the one featured in the video they had replayed so many times before.
As the centerpiece of the non-climbing part of their new fitness site, Lisa and Jen chose an XL bridge. In combination with monkey bars, battle ropes, balls, sandbags, free weights, and other equipment the installation allows for endless exercises improving strength, power, endurance, and agility. The layout includes additional stall bars for bodyweight training and stretching exercises, and an open gym space allows for sled work and sprints.
MoveStrong equipment is adjustable to offer modifications to any fitness level and age. Fun challenges that improve confidence and encourage a healthier mindset are just as popular with kids as with adults.
In the six months of being open, the four founders of Recreate Climbing Lisa, Jen, Matt, and Ryan have received solely positive feedback. Their gym is a unique find in the area, and every day they are able to watch clients get fit and strong, while having fun.
