MoveStrong's New Outdoor Obstacle Course and Fitness Area at Virginia Tech

MoveStrong is thrilled to announce the start of an exciting new project at Virginia Tech: the installation of an outdoor obstacle course and fitness area, specially designed for the university’s cadet department. This initiative is part of MoveStrong’s ongoing commitment to promoting functional fitness and creating spaces that challenge both body and mind.

The course is set to include a variety of obstacles and training stations, each aimed at delivering a comprehensive workout experience while also fostering teamwork and leadership skills.

A Closer Look at the Obstacles and Equipment

Among the obstacles are the Cargo Net Climb, which helps develop upper body strength and coordination, and the Balance Beam and Balance Steps, both of which are essential for enhancing stability and balance.

The Quintuple Steps are designed to build agility and speed, while the Elevate Trainer offers versatile bodyweight exercise options that are strength-focused. A set of Low Parallel Bars provides an ideal setup for dips and core exercises, additional Push-Up Pull-Up Bars are available for upper body conditioning, and the A-Wall Climb presents a climbing challenge that builds both strength and confidence.

Complementing these obstacles is the T-Rex Multistation, a versatile piece of equipment that features a Monkey Bar Bridge to develop grip strength and upper body endurance, Battle Ropes for high-intensity cardio workouts and Adjustable Dip and Elevate Trainer attachments for numerous strength training exercises catering to different levels of difficulty. This array of equipment ensures that a variety of users with different skill sets can engage in a full spectrum of functional fitness training.

Explanatory cards and QR codes to video instructions on each training station help guide athletes with proper and efficient use of the equipment.

Why Colleges, Universities, and High Schools Should Consider MoveStrong

This state-of-the-art facility at Virginia Tech is more than just a fitness courseβ€”it’s a powerful tool for building resilient bodies and minds, and a great example for educational institutions, including colleges, universities, and high schools with ROTC programs or a focus on military training.

The benefits are substantial: the course supports functional fitness training, improving strength, agility, and endurance with exercises that mimic real-life physical challenges. It also naturally encourages teamwork and collaboration, making it perfect for group challenges and team-building exercises. The physical challenges presented in a group setting are ideal for fostering leadership skills and building camaraderie, while the unique nature of the course offers a fun and memorable way for students or cadets to create lasting experiences.

MoveStrong’s installation at Virginia Tech reflects our dedication to promoting health, fitness, and personal development. We invite other educational institutions, ROTC, and JROTC, to consider the advantages of bringing this innovative training facility to their campuses, where it can serve as a center for fitness, fun, and growth.
