St Lucia Caribbean Island Opens Second MoveStrong Outdoor Fitness Park With More Expansion Coming
The National Insurance Corporation (NIC) proudly opened its second outdoor fitness station at Pigeon Point, dedicated to the esteemed St. Lucian long-distance runner, Anthony “Tony” Fessal.
This Fitness Park is a testament to the NIC’s commitment to combating chronic non-communicable diseases, a leading cause of mortality in Saint Lucia. The initiative not only honors Tony Fessal's legacy but also aims to promote healthier lifestyles among residents. The NIC plans to install ten additional outdoor fitness stations across the island, fostering a more active community.
The FitGround Stations feature a variety of engaging equipment designed to enhance physical fitness. The Balance Steps help improve coordination and stability, while the Hanging Balance Discs focus on strength and balance, targeting the core and lower body.
Low Parallel Bars are perfect for bodyweight exercises like dips and leg raises, and the Monkey Bridge with Side Pull-Up Bars enhances upper body strength and agility, encouraging functional movement.
Balance Beams develop balance and concentration, essential for athletic performance and injury prevention. For a high-intensity workout, the Battle Ropes boost cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance. The Tire Flip Station builds power and functional strength, mimicking real-life lifting tasks, while the Stall Bars offer versatile options for stretching and bodyweight exercises, improving flexibility.
Additionally, the Over Under Bars challenge agility and coordination, making them great for dynamic workouts and finally, the Ab Board targets core strength, which is crucial for overall stability and athletic performance.
The grand opening ceremony saw locals eager to test the new equipment, highlighting community enthusiasm for this initiative. With “St. Lucia Moves,” the NIC is paving the way for a healthier future. Come join us in embracing an active lifestyle!
