Celebrating Health & Wellness with the Wiyot Tribe

MoveStrong is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the new FitGround with the Wiyot Tribe at Table Bluff Reservation, marked by a joyous ribbon cutting ceremony. Wiyot Tribe officials came together to celebrate the Expansion of the Table Bluff Reservation Community Playground on May 21, 2024, and open the new MoveStrong Outdoor Fitness Wiyot Tribe Community Park.

This project is part of the Tribes five-year plan to expand upon healthy outdoor infrastructure and the completion of Phase 2 of a two-phase project; the first being a renovated children’s playground.

We are honored to be a part of the Wiyot community, bringing state-of-the-art outdoor fitness amenities designed to enhance health and wellness for tribal members and the surrounding community.

The partnership with Wiyot Tribe is based on our shared commitment to promote an active and healthy lifestyle to support the overall wellbeing. The new FitGround layout is an inviting space for community members to engage in physical activity, while soaking in fresh air, and enjoying the natural beauty of their surroundings. While open to all users, it is designed for teens and adults to get that same sense of play as a child while giving a range of exercises for that specific age range.

It features a 6-Post T-Rex Station for comprehensive strength training and endurance workouts, that can be adjusted to any skill level, and be performed solo or in a group. Over Under Posts, an agility ladder and agility dots enhance agility, flexibility and coordination through dynamic movements, making fitness fun and challenging. Parallel bars and plyo steps are great for athletes seeking to boost upper body strength, core stability and explosive leg power. To improve balance, a zigzag balance beam and hanging balance discs are included in the installment, as well as battle rope stations for intense cardio workouts improving overall performance and building endurance. A QR code on each station ensures safe and efficient use through video instructions and exercise ideas.

As part of the opening, MoveStrong arranged a guided training session with valuable tips on fun and efficient ways to get fit while enjoying outdoors.

Wiyot Tribe Education Department invited Abram Benally, Navajo, 2018 Ninja Warrior contestant, Navy Reservist, and owner of Calisthenics Navajo to come out to promote the obstacle course with the kids and teens of the community. He was impressed with the unique setup of the park and looks forward to come back.

MoveStrong’s FitGround is more than just a place to exercise; it is a vibrant community hub where people can come together to work towards their fitness goals. By offering a variety of engaging and versatile equipment, we aim to support the physical well-being of the Wiyot Tribe while fostering social connections and community spirit.

We are excited to see the positive impact this facility will have on the community’s health and happiness.
